stop transformation photos

tallestgirlonearthh

recovery instagrams are like: “so here’s a transformation photo. I’m posting this but not to show you how sick I was or to compare …”

I still do not and never will understand these. they make the recovery community so incredibly toxic. there is no point in transformation photos. you shouldn’t have sick pictures. they serve no purpose. you don’t need a picture to remind you of the horrific times. also, this disorder isn’t about the weight so it’s extremely invalidating for those who might not have gone through something like that or made a transformation with their body. the struggle doesn’t stop when you are weight restored. so by posting these photos you are reinforcing to society and others starting in recovery that this is about the weight and life is all grand and wonderful after the you restore your weight. whether or not you realize or what to admit it, sick pictures are used as fuel and having them is disordered. your ED will use it against you when you are feeling vulnerable. get rid of them. THERE IS NO POINT. stop holding on to something that doesn’t need to be held on to. and stop justifying your need to keep them. if you’re justifying and getting defensive over a photo, that says it all. let go and move on.
